Q: plot matrix rows with distinct colors in R

I have a big matrix with 3 columns: the color column, the x column and the y column. I want to plot every points (x,y) with the color from the color column. First question: what software is best to do so? Second question: how can I do it with R? Thank you.

Yay R can run on multi-processors! Also, don't use the processors: cran.r-project.org/web/packages/imputation

I suspect there's some CRAN policy guidance on how your package can not do that during cran check n build...

@Spacedman: You are right: "If running a package uses multiple threads/cores it must never use more than two simultaneously: the check farm is a shared resource and will typically be running many checks simultaneously. " cran.r-project.org/web/packages/policies.html

@Roland how would it work syntactically? you'd have to mod the core grammar if you wanted to do x += 2

Q: R: += (plus equals) and ++ (plus plus) equivalent from c++/c#/java, etc.?

Does R have a concept of += (plus equals) or ++ (plus plus) as c++/c#/others do?

@Thell Opinion based, which I totally agree with, even though it is "just" a meta question. But I think the larger issue is that its hard to see what more could possibly be added after 40+ answers.

@Thomas Normally on SO when that happens a mod would step in and make a decision one way or the other and then lock it. I was surprised that hadn't happened yet there.

Someone once told me about his rule to not look at question if the person asking has less than 'X' karma. I should do that too.

When someone asks a questions on SO, they are expected to check that the question was not asked before. It is even worse if the question has been asked some 20 times before, because it shows little regard for the site. Well what about people who would answer questions on SO? Is there any burde...
