@Nooble Any cost higher than "free" is stealing your money with a vertical resolution of only 1080. Realistically, even free should be treated as minor theft. If you're programming, you should never settle for less than 1200 lines vertical resolution.

Hi,I have a question about oracle sql. It's not c++, of course, but since this is the only truly active room I'll ask and hope for the best. I am trying to make a procedure to fill my tables with values and what I need is some sort of string set from which I could take a a string by random order. Is there a way to do this without using arrays?

@nick They're not bad vertically, as long as you use it with something else horizontally (lots of web sites, for example, expect you to have a monitor that's wider than that).

@JerryCoffin I've been programming on a laptop for quite some time. It's 1920x1080 and don't really see why it's so bad.

@Nooble I suppose until you use something with higher (vertical) resolution, it may not be--but after using a higher resolution monitor for a while, 1080 seems extremely cramped (at least to me).

May just be that I'm accustomed to it, but when I bought a 1080p laptop, for the first few months I had a very tough time with it (and even after really trying for quite a while, still find it very cramped feeling (even though its overall resolution isn't much lower than I'm used to--just wider and shorter).

My current keyboard laptop is an Acer Aspire V3 772G. Dunno what that keyboard is called. It has them flat keys that I usually despise. But there's quite a bit of click response ("actuation point") on these. It makes typing on it very crisp and not at all "fuzzy" like laptop keyboards usually have.

@sehe My initial developer experience with it was when I was debugging g++ executables, before clang ever existed. And then after that I was doing an embeded project in it. Before that, I had a Macbook Pro and I was dual-booting with Bootcamp to do Windows development, until the thing fried on me (everytime I turned it on, you could smell the smouldering silicon). Aside from that, XCode would do strange things with my code, especially when I was debugging.
