I have a SQLiteOpenHelper subclass which overrides onCreate(). I need the Context where it is used, which I set to a member var in the ctor. But onCreate() gets called after chaining to the super() ctor before the member var gets set.

The site has AJAX, so I am aware that I'll need something to execute the javascript. I've contacted the web developer, and the API is not applicable to this part of the site. What tools might be useful for this kind of task? I've scraped from this site before using JSON, although I am still novice to programming with JSON.

It's not the point about pinging twice. I don't mind even if you ping 10 times with different statements. But saying that system does it automatically is really preposterous and unbelievable.
