When Makyen answered the questionnaire, it was on Meta, which has the standard 30k character limit. Apparently, the integrated questionnaire has a tighter limit now.
Speaking of, @Zoe, I came up with a solid workaround. Since it's counting characters, rather than bytes, you can just replace entire phrases with a single Unicode emoji.
@DanielWiddis That might work if you could trust the other people who attend the meeting not to make foolish decisions and/or dump all the work on you in your absence.
@CodyGray Ah, but I strategically attend the "Triage" meeting where work is assigned and think of all my colleagues who are GREAT at solving the problems presented.
In all seriousness, I think we can all expect new engineers to "screw it up" occasionally. Heck, even old farts like me screw it up on a regular basis.

@RyanM Well, I guess I forgot how much influence rep has over the candidate score. I was thinking that you had reached a level of "rep sufficiency" that it wouldn't penalize you in terms of the candidate score.
Either because they've already left entirely, or because they've essentially faded out their participation to the point where they're definitely not going to be taking on moderation.
@CodyGray i mean, would you still in good conscience vote for someone who is all but inactive on the site but still decides to run for schiffs and giggles?

You can only nominate yourself as a candidate during the nomination phase. You'll need at least 3000 reputation, have these badges (Civic Duty, Convention, Deputy, Strunk & White), and cannot have been suspended anywhere on the Stack Exchange network within the past year. You cannot nominate another user.
@PDHide There is a "nominate yourself as a candidate" link at the bottom of the election page. If you don't see it, it is probably because you are not eligible.

The 40-point candidate score is calculated this way: 1 point for each 1,000 reputation up to 20,000 reputation (20 points); and 1 point for each of the 8 moderation, 6 editing, and 6 participation badges (20 points)
Haha, yeah. Supported natively in the control panel in macOS. Windows has built-in support, too, but you have to edit the registry, so most people use a little utility to configure it.
Virtually all Linux desktops should support it, too.

@RyanM Ah, yeah; that is rough. My preferred solution for that is to have meetings late at night in my time zone (which is morning for the overseas folks), but that often isn't appreciated by coworkers who are in the same time zone as me.
I've done several midnight-ish meetings when working with folks in Germany. That puts it around 8 or 9 AM there.
Works fine when I'm the only one from the US needed on the call. Which is...often.
@Shree It isn't a guarantee of election, for sure. The candidate score doesn't really mean all that much, especially since a good half of it is just reputation. The difference between 10k rep and 20k rep really isn't that important.
@RyanM What always blows my mind is when you see people working (sending emails) late at night, and then see the same person also sending emails early in the morning. I mean, humans really do have to sleep sometime.
All I can figure out is that they wake up, send emails, and then go back to sleep. Which is... bizarre. But explains the lack of coherency.
@CodyGray I have on occasions woken up, attended a meeting, and gone back to sleep. Which is exactly what I want to avoid by having a better sleep schedule.
@CodyGray I guess we also have Indians in the call as well sometimes and it makes it not stupid o'clock for them, I just have the luxury of being in UTC+0/1 :p
