so the first for loop is for the only positive numbers

and the second is for all numbers in the array "values"

i thought that, if the if statement cannot be executed because the statement is false, that it would then skip to the else statement

so either it executes the first if, or the else, depending on if the statement is true or false

is that not true?

and for most of them it gives 0

so there is something wrong with it i think

so i think b is not changing

even though it should be

You have declared the b variable in the method which is local.

So, it's scope is with in that method only

here is the brief

The sumValues() methods takes two inputs: an array of integers, and a boolean called "positivesOnly". The method should calculate the sum of the values in the array, however if "positivesOnly" is true, then any negative numbers in the array should be ignored and not contribute to the sum.

For example, if the input array is:

{-1,2,-3,4,-5,6}

then calling sumValues() with "positivesOnly" being true should give:

12

because only the positive values (2,4,6) are summed, whereas if "positivesOnly" is false the output should be:

If you get values in this method, there is no problemhere at all.
