Because it's a boolean value

you can't use % with it

you can't say int x = false just like you can't say boolean y = 3.

You can do if(9 % 3 == 0) but you can't do if(false % 3 == 0)

Hey is anybody up for helping out with figuring out intellij? I cannot figure out how to get my depenedencies into new projects ever

Every time I open a new project from a class I am following online, it is missing dependencies and I can't figure out where to import them. The project doesn't use maven or gradle or anything.

(For those curious, it is cs61b from berkeley. They post the content online)

I have created a new Intellij project. But I can't use the third party jars in my project. I have the jars in a directory structure as follows: repository/commons-logging/commons-logging-1.0.4.jar repository/commons-lang/commons-lang-2.1.jar etc. I want to add them just by pointing to the repo...

It's also kind of hard because I don't really know what to google. It makes sense that I am missing a jar, but I don't really know where it is missing or anything. With npm, you declare your dependencies in your package.json and you install them in your node_modules. With java, I don't get where the dependencies are stored. It seems like intellij is performing some sort of magic to me.

Then in the middle column (after clicking on Libraries) you can click on the +

Then from Maven

In the window that opens then, put in "princeton" and hit enter. IntelliJ looks for Maven Reopsitories that contain that name

That seemed to find some, but not this specific one, do you think this package just isn't in the maven registry?

Once IntelliJ is done, look for one that says :stdlib:1.0.1 in the end

And hit OK after.

With that you should have access to the files you need.

Wait, it had the :stdlib:1.0.1, and that makes sense, is that the same jar? I'm a little confused by that

the package(s) inside the jar is the relevant part

On the left you have the folder structure. In that you can see that it contains the package edu.princeton.cs.introcs

Like those two tabs that say "project" and "structure" Where would I see the package?
