You can spend five years writing code, but you can't improve if you, well, aren't open to it - peer revisions, new technologies, getting in touch with people smarter than you, solving problems instead of developing workarounds.

I get up around 6am. email, shower, goto work. work till 5, get home around 6, feed pets and make dinner. 6:45 - 7pm I can sit down and game or code. which ever strikes my fancy for the night.
@rubin.kazan not necessarily niche, but your teacher is not teaching much. You have an internet connection, use it to look up stuff that your your teacher or the books do not make clear.
I stopped caring about age -- I've seen too many 40 year old asshats who act 13 and too many 13 year olds who could code circles around me and who are not immature idiots.
Coding is funny that way. Some young people are really good at it. Older people can be capable, but necessarily. Some people become old and wise, some just become old.
