how does the code work

That is taking pageKey, TryGetValue to see if it has a key in the dictionary, if it does it makes a Page(Type) called page, and sets it's SetNavigation parameters
Then the MainPage.Navigation takes the page and shows it

if it's not found in the TryParse it errors
