currently it's closed as duplicate of a very general question about self-referential types. it's tehcnically correct, but the other answer would give a much better answer to the question for someone who finds it via google.
I do agree your answer is more useful indeed; though perhaps I would switch the order of the code in your answer to put ourobouros first -- no unsafe -- and only mention later how to make it with unsafe.

I think I can immediately reopen the first question, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to close it again with the new dup target. (the duphammer might not be working after using it to reopen the question.)
