@MrW that cartoon perfectly expresses my perception of C programming (although I appreciate that this is partly because I'm a lousy programmer, I can't bring myself to accept that keeping track of pointers is a useful way to use a human's intellectual capacity any more than getting a human to lift weights in preference to designing a machine to do so)

@acl I avoid pointers like the plague they are. That's one of the reasons why I use c++ as you can avoid using them directly while retaining there power. That and I like generic programming ...
