I am crying a little bit inside. I have come across an awful "feature" in iOS and asked about resolving it, and yet iOS behaves differently inside stacksnippets and inside jsfiddle.

(it behaves in a different terrible way)

What should I do about providing a code example?

I mean it'll work you just can't see it in that snippet because it's in a snippet.

@sekhr yes it's possible because they did it, no adobe software isn't necessary for anything at all in web dev. you could write a site in notepad. i write them in sublime text. you need to be a bit more specific about what you want to make though - and you should try inspecting that page and learning from what they did.

@doppelgreener thanks for your reply ,yeah I wanted the same effect as the main block shows ,it seems like as if it is some up from the back ground ,I tried to check its code ,what I got that they used different divs to do so ,but I'm confused how to overlap divs ,as there are sections over section on that page ,can you please suggest me some read for such effects ?

@sekhr The #content element has a box-shadow css style. That might be what you're referring to.

In CSS, why is it that the text colour is defined with color and not text-color or font-color? Also, what's the difference between font- and text-?

If you want to really effect change, go talk to the CSSWG directly instead of starting a petition on change.org where they'll probably never see it. But like Tyler, I don't see a compelling reason for this. Also consider: how should color and font-color interact, how should it be calculated when one or the other is set to currentcolor, etc

Does the added complexity really justify a separate property for which it's not even immediately obvious whether one is intended to be an alias of the other?

It's really not that hard to remember color. I don't even think about it

changing it now serves no purpose. color is supported all the way back to at least IE4

color is foreground-color

It affect several things

and by "old browsers", i mean browsers that were shipped before today

There is no property that only affects font color

we already have problems where CSS authors use prefixed properties without providing unprefixed properties. what problem is this solving again?
