But when you look at pop you have to realise that it's an industry. When you look at it like an industry, pop is incredibly successful: Pop's homogeneous because a formula has been stumbled upon to make pop songs.
Sure, there's seasonal variety and maybe someone throws in a different random instrument, but in essence it's a successful industry. Do you think your generic rock bands are better? No, once you become part of an industry you sacrifice variety for sales.
@phenomnomnominal They may also have been active in the 70s, but all of them started operating in the beginning-to-mid 60s. Zeppelin a bit later methinks, the first two albums were 1968 or 1969?
@Neil You see first there was a movement for fast food now everybody is going behind organic stuff. Meh I think instrumentals will come back after a few years.
