I took C++ classes in college, and read books, and went to forums, and nothing helped me more to understand it than actually chatting with another experienced programmer that tuttored me
@ReiBrazilva also, docs. please get comfortable with looking up shit on www.php.net. I learnt 90% of what I know there, either clicking random stuff or searching for specific functions. the other 10% I learnt on SO (or forums before that, but SO pretty much dominates Google search results now for any programming related problem)

@John a DIContainer is basically a collection of Factories that manage creation and (optionally) lifecycle of objects whereas DI is merely the act of injection dependencies via ctors, setters or in method calls

Started playing with pthreads last night. My first impressions ... Some of the extension code looks like it was written by a five year old. And it seems to have a lot of weird quirks that, if you aren't aware of them, will result in segfaults all over your application. But, if you can work around those things the ability to incorporate limited threading can be a real win.
