You probably shouldn't use volatile in Java. You definitely shouldn't use volatile in C or C++ because the chance that you know what it's doing is slim.

The consequences are these: I have a running Service that serves as a bridge from a device that advertised data(Bluetooth), to a client which is an Activity. Now I want to make a command queue polling service, that will execute those commands and the function is located under the Service

And I want to detect if the Service is still up while the command queue polling service is executing

First comes to my mind is, make variable from the Service the determines if it is still up

And the Service has the Queue of commands

Should I marked that queue as volatile?

since it will be accessed by it's own thread and the other?
