you won't keep the default ones for sure

they vary from browser to browser

Background JS runs when Chrome starts

It's usually used for running processes

Like in Phone to Chrome

I have a WebSocket in the background file, that checks if there are any tabs to open

If I ran the JS in a content script, it'd run and open a WebSocket connection for each tab

The background code, surprisingly enough, runs in the background

Regarding background scripts, imagine something that handles tabs

Well, popup.html is refreshed automatically when you reopen it

For content scripts and bg scripts, yeah, you have to reload the extension

I ve built a component with 2 faces and when the container class changes from "visible" to "hidden" the display changes from none to block and vice versa in the two child div. The problem is that the backface appears under the front face instead of replacing it.

I tend to use rem / em as a unit of scale from a base value.

base = 16px. 1 rem = 16px. 2 rem = 32px etc.

Rather than thinking in px, you can then go, I want this 2 times bigger than normal, so 2 rem.

But like you said, ems are balls hard.

Why do you need, "It is important to remember the following when setting parameters:" ? I'd think removing it or if it's necessary putting something like important in red would be more effective. Might consider using a different color for important/definition words. Also need to make it responsive if it needs to be
