@DarkAshelin I use custom frameworks majority of the time. I work for a small company that had built their own framework which is now deprecated. I'm spending the time to rebuild the framework with updated PHP and better SQL queries. I have no experience with Symfony, but have heard amazing things. I also hear good things about CakePHP and for some reason the other people where I work love CodeIgniter
