Update: if I do a e.Node.SelectedImageKey = e.Node.ImageKey; later on, like in the before/afterExpand, it works. Not only does it work, but it fixes all others, even if they've yet to be expanded from changing. Right now I've implemented BeforeSelect with that line, but very odd that A, that works, and B, that doing it to one fixes everything.

And to top it off, if I check before reassigning if they're the same, they are.

I'll call it a workaround at best, since the one change solves all thing. Nonetheless, I did just add the update to the main post.
