Not that I feel that this PSA will make much of a difference, but in any case: if you are thinking about deleting or editing your posts in protest of Stack Overflow's partnership with OpenAI, please restrain yourself. That is just vandalism that won't stop them from scraping the posts and only causes harm to those who are not at fault.

is there any definitive explanation for what systems programming is?

@s4D_t0y Eh, you can ask wikipedia but if you just ask people you'll probably get a few different perspectives on what properties "system programming" has. But a common thread is having control over the underlying hardware that you'd need for embedded or kernel development.
