scores reflect popularity mostly

your heavily researched question on an obscure subject is unlikely to gather upvotes because hardly anyone can understand it and/or are familiar with the subject

OTOH a newbie question with a decent title is likely to gather upvotes from random Google visitors

It's crazy that you can earn the most trusted privileges by just having posted a few beginner questions 8 years ago.

Confession time: I started participating in rust because I knew it would be early in the life of it

and I could accrue more and more points with time compounding

@Shepmaster the difference is that they had 8 years to get better at asking questions and being nice, but didn't

@ker What I'm hearing is that I've got a few more years to become nice ^_^
