I'm here on a 1 year "working holiday" visa, but will be applying for a more permanent one in the next few weeks. I'm lucky that my fiancee is Canadian, so that'll help with getting a better one.

Last time we were there we stayed in Mississuaga and we wanted to come back somewhere similar distance to the city.

But it's not like Waterloo is that far away?

Not if you have a car.

It's about 90 mins on the Greyhound from KW to downtown Toronto.

Yeah, we're probably a bit far from downtown for that if you're using public transport. They're planning on building an express train between some of these cities further out and downtown, but that's at least 2 years away.

Driving is a bit different, but I can't really speak to how practical that is.

What does your partner do?

Kitchener-Waterloo is where most of the interesting tech stuff is happening, but for writers and finance and things like that then downtown Toronto is definitely better.

My partner will drive - so no worries about public transport :)
