I just had quite the adventure. A thing need GTK+ as a dependency, so I tried to install it. 2 days later, everything gone, no menues, no desktop background, no apps open, cinnamon in fallback mode. I finally realized that I had to uninstall GTK, pixbuf, and glib. But now I can't run the app I was trying to in the first place...

@thesecretmaster I wonder if you installed an entire desktop in order to pull in the needed libraries? A cool thing about Linux is that you can usually use whatever graphic framework you want with whatever desktop manager you want.

Turns out Mint 17.* doesn't support GTK>3.10, so I have to update to Mint 18
