that way you can still directly use the function if needed

Let's say you have a function that does "X"

and you decide that the way you're using "X" should be enabled / disabled

but then, while "X" is disabled in that context, you want to use it anyway (triggered by something else)

if the disabling logic is inside of "X", you can't use it anymore
