then i tried thissss:

-(void) tableView:(UITableView *)tableView willDisplayCell:(UITableViewCell *)cell forRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {

if([indexPath row] == ((NSIndexPath*)[[tableView indexPathsForVisibleRows] lastObject]).row){
[self.tableView scrollToRowAtIndexPath:[NSIndexPath indexPathForRow:_scrollPos inSection:0]
atScrollPosition:UITableViewScrollPositionTop animated:YES];
//for example [activityIndicator stopAnimating];
}
}

this scrolls down to the cell all right. but then when i scroll elsewhere it again pulls it back to that cell
