A box just comes out of nowhere which says "chat with an expert". It happened once on Stack Overflow and once on Meta. Is this an ad? Isn't Meta supposed to have no ads?

I saw examples doing it in onResume() and also in onCreate(). I was asking myself if it is not a problem putting it into onCreate(), cause in onPause() i will do a unbind to the service, so i dont get a serviceConnectionLe...
The stuff I currently do in onActivityResult() should be done off the main-thread anyways. I can easily pass the data into my AsyncTask subclass and store it in the Activity. Then, in onStart(), i check if the task is not null and if it isn't, I execute it.
Because that I have, I am passing activity as a parameter to some SessionManager class an in that class I am checking (BaseApp) activity.getApplication object value. After the first launch it has object, but after I do some operations (took a photo) that object becomes null. So I am unable to access anything from overridden Application class.

No, there isn't. When you upgrade your database, the older version is overwritten.
You could try making a backup copy by copying the file from the internal storage's databases folder to your normal internal storage or the external storage, and then restoring it if you have to.
