simple question

I am writing some unit tests for a code that someone has wrote few days ago

there are many helper methods which just using String#equals()

something like this one

public String getRadiologyInboxType(String type){
if (type.equalsIgnoreCase(ParserConstants.REPORT_TYPE_COMPLETE)){
  return RoSConstants.EMPTY_STRING;
 }else if (type.equalsIgnoreCase(ParserConstants.REPORT_TYPE_ADDITIONAL)){
  return ResultStatus.STATUS_K;
 }
 return type;
}

I just thought myself, should I really wanna write a test method for this? as long as the input is not null, this will definitely works 0% error

You don't only test for exceptions (which in this case would be type == null) but for edge cases, special cases and common cases as well... So there would be at least 4 tests for this method (null, ParserConstants.REPORT_TYPE_COMPLETE, ParserConstants.REPORT_TYPE_ADDITIONAL and "somethingElse")

actually it's equalsIgnoreCase()

You're testing if your coworker used equalsIgnoreCase correctly

But then you shouldn't write your testcases looking at the code but looking at the specs, maybe he missed a special case...

but then you shouldnt code anyway but post catgifs instead
