I meant memory bandwidth, not gpu memory bandwith.

Because imshow() will also need some memory bandwidth.

I guess that why it slows down the frame rate.

My laptop has 16 gb memory so not sure if that'll be a problem

I meant memory bandwidth, not capacity...it's just a guess though.

I tested on my machine with a 15 fps webcam but much more powerful hardware. 4 core cpu with 8 via hyperthreading and nvidia gtx 650m gpu. No slowdown. The CPU load is much lower too. But that may be because of the 15 fps webcam.
