many wants that, i'm working on a userland version of the same thing. will never finish it though :B

i'm very much failing at understanding the point of unit testing. tore down my previous interpretation of it and now i'm very confused even if i'm trying to read anything i can on the topic

while i understand the point of functional (black box) testing, i'm not sure if unit testing even makes sense most of times

i mean, it has for sure some value, but the annoyance of maintaining such tests is enormous... which makes it very unappealing as i restructure my code without affecting functionality all the time

@Wes If your unit tests are testing your public API then you shouldn't have to change them much.

If you keep messing with your API… then yeah, it's going to get annoying.

those are not unit tests, apparently, they are called functional testing

Maybe I'm not clear on the definition of unit testing then.

unit tests is about hitting all code paths... is what i get from what i read

while functional testing has no knowledge of the code executed, only the interface

That seems to be a common goal of unit testing, I'm not sure if that's really part of the defintion.

@bwoebi I think it would be better for Message to not implement Stream. As it is in that gist, it's easy to explain the purpose of the class concisely: bytes can be consumed using wait()/read() and any unconsumed bytes are available as the promise resolution value (of course buffering the entire thing nothing is consumed). Having another message that gets bytes without consuming them seems bolted on.

found such snippet on twitter today, and was experiencing for a minute, also found out that PHP bechaves quite weird when have another two methods - setters with overloaded typoes and then doesn';t work

It's just that the fd tested isn't reliably a tty

After the patch, you're essentially testing that ttyname_r fails

Hi Everyone, I have an application that allows a user to upload a file via GUI. I am experiencing strange problem. There is too much time difference if we upload a file via firefox vs Chrome. Chrome is taking too much time. If firefox takes around 30 minutes to upload 2GB file, Chrome is taking around 2 hours.

is it just me who experiencing this problem
