@TelKitty In this case, I believe the "divestment" means there will still be something call TikTok that will remain available in the US, but it's at least intended to be isolated from the Chinese Communist Party, due to concerns that the CCP is using it as a way to collect people's personal information. [Just to be clear: I don't know whether, and if so how much, the CCP may actually do that now.]

I won't be surprised that the Chinese and US governments are using social medias to collect users' information, I will be surprised if they don't.
Social media is also a good tool to herd people.

@TelKitty That's simply inaccurate. This wasn't just about holding and/or expressing views, but about taking actions that affected the lives of (in this case) Jewish people (some of them religious Jews, some just people of Jewish descent). In some cases they were threatened, couldn't go to class, etc. The universities failed to meet requirements to prevent that kind of behavior. The questions in congress came down to whether this was lack of rules, or lack of enforcement.

Obviously tens of thousands of children who were killed in Gaza is of no consequence ..
US government rather use tax payers money for weapons to assist other countries to kill people than to subsidise own citizens health care and Americans support that, can only say, I am speechless.

@TelKitty I doubt anybody believes that at all. But children killed in Gaza don't give one person in the US the right to attack another person in the US because somewhere in their family tree, they might e distantly related to a third person who did something bad (even if we accept for the sake of argument, that they really did something bad).
@TelKitty Some have certainly wished you truly were speechless, but it was but a vain hope.

@JerryCoffin just read your Quora on steel. I vaguely remember watching a YT video on steel vs cast iron pans. Tthink it said steel pans need the handle welded on because steel isn't flexible enough to create the entire pan in one mold.
But you say cast iron is more brittle. Then how come they have pans that also have the handle in one piece?

Must say, that I have been punished before for speaking too much. But those 'punishments' have turned into opportunities that have launched me into better thing! Life is awesome!

@JerryCoffin I am not saying who is good or who is bad, just saying that a lot of people can't see pass the first layer of consequences. For example, a lot of Chinese support and being very loyal to Mao who have caused deaths of tens of millions of Chinese by war, starvation and other man made causes. I don't know how people can be so dumb, they just are.
