How are the Anno games? I think I remember you mentioning one of them at some point

are there battles in them or are they just city building games?

anno 1800 has only naval combat, but earlier games also had land combat

are they good despite there not being much combat?

they seem expensive to make a gamble on

naval combat + half the map is water = lots of combat

so despite there not being much combat..

lol are they fun?

would you say they are less, equal, or more fun than the civ games

more fun for the casual gamer for sure

also the graphics are top notch

I got the platinum or whatever edition when it was half price, so paid 50eu

lot of my friends have it as well, my gf likes to play it some times too. It is great fun, but I didn't like it as much as a solo game

hmmm true, yeah I'd probably try to convince my friends to get it

Maybe I'll get the fitgirl re-pack to try it out and then buy the full game for multiplayer if I like it

compared to CIV, there is a lot of detail and mechanics in the game for those who like to minmax and optimize build order etc, but a lot of that stuff is 'hidden' in the sense that you don't need any of it. It just helps you get ahead faster and build a more optimized economy to feed your people and expand etc

there are no turns of course so you can go at your own pace

sounds like it's worth the try for sure

the graphics looked pretty sweet, gameplay videos looked a little weird, didn't have the patience to wtch somoene play that game lol looked way more fun to actually play it

whereas in CIV personally I was always stressing about 'I have to hurry cause people are waiting', and worrying if I picked the right 'skills' etc because if you don't you just straight up lose

CIV for me was more of a competition to the win, and Anno more of having a good time making some nice cities and islands etc

gotcha, makes sense then

you can build a sick navy and stuff but war is mostly optional in the same way as in CIV

unless you put aggressive pirates and higher level NPCs for example

so there are different victory conditions kinda thing?

in anno the victory conditions can be tweaked before the game starts and usually are 'reach population of X of tier Y' I don't remember if killing everyone is a victory condition too

but reaching such population is achieved through combination of everything else

I never even made it to the last tier

we often start new games and forget about previous ones. Early game is fun, late game can be bit more stressful cause you have to keep your people alive etc

cool

don't play the campaign, just go straight into sandbox mode with guidance enabled

yeah I think in CIV if you don't have enough food for example then your production will just lower, but in Anno the people will riot (visually, fun to see xD) and stuff

also everything revolves around money/income which can be affected by how you tax the people, which in turn affects their happiness, etc

yeah I was reading that anno seemed more deep mechanics wise in that aspect

also probably don't enable DLC for your first game

one cool new feature in anno is that you can play cooperatively

meaning you can team up with a friend and be on the same team controlling the same economy

Anyway

So we met last saturdaynight, I picked her up and we drove to a neutral point. First thing I wanted to know was why she wondered we were in a relationship when I asked about vacational plans

Her answer to this was she didn't exactly know why she asked that on that specific moment but it just "flapped out" on a very unfortunate moment. Then she made clear that when it comes to feelings we were no different: she did know we were in a relationship but she simply wanted me to confirm it for her because she would love me just saying it

I didn't get that logic at all, I told her that if I walk down the street and I see something that looks, feels or tastes like shit: nobody has to point me out that it's shit

if I introduce someone to my parents, my friends and sleep 3 nights a week on her spot: nobody needs to tell me I'm in a relationship

yeah but everyone is different in that regard

well I just hope we are all aware here what miscommunication can lead to

I made one thing very clear: I had the idea sometimes our love wasn't mutual. I wasn't introduced to her parents and I took most of the initiative from my part. Her response on that was she wasn't used to this kind of relationship or the way I made her feel

She added she was already happy having me over for the night or the time available and didn't feel like lacking anything but did wanted me to be included in her life just as much as I did

Did you talk about the most pressing matter at hand? I feel like these issues discussed were kind of secondary issues to the one about her sleeping with someone else

and that if I feel like it's not mutual she will take action on that, but she wanted me to know that it had nothing to do with unmutual feelings: just her not being used to the situation

In all honesty, just like I told her, I am absolutely uncomfortable with that kind of info. Especially cause she first lied about it

Then again, I had done this kind of thing too in my last relationship and I can understand what moves someone in doing that

You meet someone new, you feel like getting serious and you do something stupid like "one last time", regret it and be asured you actually are caught in feelings. It happens, but now the matter is if I am able to process that info

There was no sugarcoating in the story, it happened, we weren't exclusive and she regretted it afterwards

I was in the position to do the exact same thing but I learned from my last relationship that I would only regret such 'cat bounce' moves

I mean if you've done this in the past and had the opportunity to do it again but didn't due to past experiences... has she had this experience in the past?

No she had not

I broke things off that night cause I couldn't deal with this stuff at that moment

Okay so I mean.. you can't really blame her too much, and although she kept it from you/lied about it early on, she told you the truth.. which you need to give her credit for - that takes courage, and should help regain some trust despite it revealing her dishonesty earlier

it's up to me to be able to look passed this stuff and consider a re-do together

And honestly, I do not want to cut ties with someone over her past: as long as she fully proved to love me for the time we were actually together

but I also cannot predict if I will grind my gears over somebody's past. It's a matter of time so perhaps kind of a risk

my gut did not agree with my primaral decession to break apart: I missed her a lot and from her side she told me it was even worse

but am I able to put the past aside? I wish I could simply say yes but it requires time to be sure

and this is a general problem: I am very well aware I will face something likewise if I would enter a new relationship. Except then I would have broken up something that could have been great if not just for me lifting heavy on such subject

and to me, "what if"'s are the worst thing in life

hmm, I think everyone is responsible for this, but having pre-concieved notions of someone in dating can be pretty dangerous for this reason
