Credit cards are getting more and more stingy with points. At least the one I am with is.

But I am not paying annual fee and there is no extra cost when I use my credit card. So I can't complain.

The ones outside the US are usually a lost cause, very unusual to find one that's worth it - I currently pay for four cards, about 1k USD a year

There's no cost beyond the annual fees, and they usually give me good exchanges rates on international spend, so I get 5-10k of value out of them at a bare minimum, many times more if I actually redeem the points for flights

Banks usually don't charge for credit card transactions. Merchants do.

Yup, but most cards globally charge a forex fee if you spend in a foreign currency - usually 1-3%

Mine don't, so it's pretty helpful considering how much I spend in non-USD currencies

Unless you run a business or buy A LOT of stuff, I don't see how you can get $5k - $10k out of your credit card. Usually credit card rebate for holder is only 1%-2% maximum.

About 5k a month on foreign transactions adds up to about $100 in forex savings per month + 3x points on travel/dining, which I can redeem for tickets at a minimum of 1.5c a points (so a minimum of 1.5% off every USD, more if I redeem for tickets as points). I also get 2x free nights at IHG and Hyatt hotels, which is about 300-500 a year depending on where I stay, plus I get lounge memberships which are useful for free food etc. while travelling through airports. This more than covers the 1k in annual fees given how often I travel

The trick is to route everything through an optimal card to cover your costs, then get business expenses reimbursed for 0-cost points

I can not find a button. Google map put a search button on the keyboard to solve this problem. Not sure what I can do for my own app.

@Mehdi Slack isn't really meant for instant action - it is more of an event log used by the user support team and to investigate issues. We log notable events and issues, and if something comes up, searching slack by user ID/component ID is a good way to see an overview of various events

my initial goal was to integrate failures with slack, so people could be notified when a precondition failed, then manually re-run their pipelines from a slack action when the precondition is fulfilled

Yeah, that seems like a reasonable slack use case

You can have a slackbot that lets them restart it too

Or does so automatically

We pipe certain failures that are non-use impacting to slack (like CI build failures, etc)

Anything with a monetory or user impact goes up the chain, depending on how severe it is

linking pipelines with jenkins is another goal I have, never had the time to do it though

I feel like (besides the income issue), people who lives in farms or in the countryside are the happiest of the lot right now, imagine being confined in an 50m2 apartment and having kids and neighbors with kids etc..

I go to the farm like once a week/fortnight. Doing some improvement on it at the moment. Could not stay longer because there is only a shed there. Will be more comfortable in a few months hopefully once this stage of improvement is done.
