Did anyone work with WorkManager? I set it to work when a device is charging but it is still not executing, is it normal for it to delay as much as it wants with given constraints?

In other news I've managed to be productive in my lockdown and have created my own Discord bot

That will surprise nobody who knows that me and @Tim both share the same birthday, so of course I will have also made a chat bot

I've made it using node-red but the Discord module for it was lacking so went ahead and added additional functionality

Hoping to eventually do a blog post about how to use what I've built to make your own

Which will be my first blog post of 2020 :D

What do you want to build?

Most of the node/protocol software is C++/go/rust

Most of the UI stuff is JS for ethereum, which is essentially all the UI stuff

But it is usually backed by solidity smart contracts, or go/rust utility backends to get data effectively

The course I am following is focussed on dapps, they suggested JS

For DApps on Ethereum you should use Solidity

I know UniSwap's v1 smart contracts were made using Vyper but their v2 contracts are using Solidity

If you aren't building a DApp on Ethereum then you're probably wasting your time

@Taseer Yes, then JS usually works best, easy to couple web3.js with react and other stuff to build things out end to end

You'll still need solidity for the smart contracts though

But it is quite similar to JS

We managed to close a $12M Series A round which was really nice... never got that kind of funding at the last company I worked at. Don't have to worry about the company disappearing any time soon thankfully.

@RaghavSood They shared a book with me called "Mastering Ethereum: Building smart contracts" and the book contains a section about Solidity and Vyper

@Taseer Throw it away for a while, go and read Mastering Bitcoin by the same guy first

Lot simpler, lot less moving parts, easier to build a foundation

And the core blockchain concepts translate from Bitcoin to all other chains 1:1

So I'd definitely recommend going through Mastering Bitcoin first to build a good, simple foundation, then get into the fun stuff

You'll need some small microcontroller in between, then you can do USB->microcontroller->light controller

For bonus points, you can connect it to an ESP32, then you can do Android->Bluetooth->Pact with the Devil->RGB control

Note to documetnation maintainer for libraries: If you are going to have shitty docs, and just expect people to use the examples to learn don't use 7 other libs in the examples when most people don't know the 7 other libraries so people have to try and understand 7 libraries they don't care about in order to understand your damn lib.
