Given there's a set of Worlds, in which World is an object, but the server is going to update blocks with World.setBlock(Block, x, y, z). I can't change a World at compile time since it's not loaded by the world leader.
The original approach I considered was to construct a new WorldWrapper class which extends World, and with the original World as a field, with all the methods invoking the object World sourced to the field, except the specific method I need, which I'll add my special logging code, then invoke the object world.setBlock(Block, x, y, z).
