@LuisMendo If multiple pickups are combined they are usually wired in parallel right?

I was wondering whether it would be a good idea to have an additional switch/whatever to combine the two humbuckers. Right now the 5 way switch switches between neck humbucker, half neck + single coil, single coil, single coil + half bridge, bridge humbucker. ("half" meaning only one half of the humbucker is used, the other is disconnected)

Also, the sound of the neck as a single coil ("half") by itself is very nice

But I wouldn't know how to do any of that by installing an additional switch

Then maybe I'll give it a try, the implementation surely is figure-out-able.

I've seen that there are combined switches and pots that you can pull/push, or push/push in order to add a switch without needing to drill extra holes.

Ah another unrelated problem I had was the jack socket on the guitar itself, (it looks about like so: cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0486/3245/products/…) it is terribly unreliable meaning you get lots of crunchy noises if you only move the cable a little bit. And it snaps into a position where part of the cable jack is still sticking out. There surely must be better solutions by now?

I have burned myself so many times soldering

did a lot of it in my undergrad

I still need to constantly remind myself that things get hot when you heat them.

particularly when it looks like a pen and you keep leaving it in the table and picking it up again

For me the soldering iron is usually not the issue, but whatever part I just soldered:)
