Anyone up for a juicy functional equation? (I have no application for it, so nothing serious.)

Now that I work around mathematicians I more and more understand the urge of all of you to find problems that are completely just for yourself, i.e. problems whos entire purpose of existing is self-pleasure.

They laugh at the idea of any of their work being useful in any shape or form

@AnderBiguri Well we pretty much use only maths from up to the 1600s to make planes fly so there might be some use for todays maths in around 400 years
