@flawr It is! It's a fundamental result in telecommunication engineering. It was thought to be just a theoretical bound, hard to achieve in practice. But modern communication systems have come really close to it, mostly thanks to powerful error correction schemes like turbo codes. BTW turbo codes are a combination of two convolutional codes... the key to success! :-)
