yeah, by default most controls default to "Control" color when read-only. so if you have a form that is just to display data, everything looks like its just that default grayish color

When you set the textbox to readonly, the foreground and background colours are overridden and ignored in favour of the system disabled colors - and it is a BAAAAD idea to change them.

The easiest way to do it would be to create your own control, derived from TextBox and handle ReadOnly yourself - disable text entry via the KeyPress event and set the color yourself.

or you could just put a transparent layer over the top of it and disable tab navigation

Hey guys quick question. I'm making an MVC5 project and using MSMQ to send xml data to a console app running locally on the same server. I'm having trouble with how to access the dbContext from my MVC front-end in the Console application. I have included my Model's folder which includes the ApplicationDbContext, and can even initialize it in my worker role under the 'class Program { ApplicationDbContext db}' level, but when I move into my main method and my while(loop) I cannot use the 'db' declared above.

I'm kind of a newbie to the whole C# world so I have crutched on a lot of the features that automate those things

so I don't really know how to create an explicit database connection, maybe i should just start there instead of trying to access the dbContext?

I put the <connectionStrings> value from my MVC front end web.config into the <configuration> of my ConsoleApplication's app.config

but I'm wondering if since the console app isn't technically asp.net entity framework, it might not even be able to use a database context class?
