umm... got 4 spare cores, 8gb ram spare and a 40gb in 1gb connection on ours... so the team was considering was offering it to @JasonC for a bit.. but not sure the amount of time to port it... for the remainder of the primaries is really worth it now...
If you get it going then make sure you head on over and answer that question. It's a great tool and anything that engages people in the election process is good.
Umm... well if @JasonC wants to chip in - Tomcat's running with the manager app and is ready to take a WAR for deploy - but it's not my cup of tea... and don't have much time to spend further on it

@JasonC as I'm at that point now where I want to know even if it's not going to be used this time... part of SO is learning.... so... not quite sure what I'm doing stupid to not get it working on one server etc... :p

This thread is rather unpleasant to read. It would help to directly compare the answers of the single candidates to a single question. Eg. I would like to compare the comments to the first question. The current thread format forces me to scroll heavily and loose oversight. Furthermore candidates cite the questions in different ways. — Thomas Kilianyesterday
I was going to parse the answers, split into question responses, then reorganize by question instead of by candidate.
@JonClements You mean for hosting the vote monitor app? The easiest thing would be for me to send you a WAR file then you to deploy it. It would create the app at /SOVoteMonitor
@JasonC - Interesting. I suppose you could do that but it will be a lot of effort for a small amount of payoff in my honest opinion :) As a learning exercise it could work.
@JasonC that or quote marks around the names. Don't bother generating data dumps for my benefit though. Pretty sure I know how to plot the data as is now. I just didn't think of it last night
I was disappointed reading some of the answers to the questionnaire to see how many of the candidates would actually act without consulting the community when it comes to taking action against sets of behavior.
@TravisJ are you planning to add a comment to the answers you're talking about? Then other people could see what you're talking about and decide whether they agree
@JonClements That works too; jason.cipriani, gmail, com, I'm going to keep it on my server for now unless it proves to be too much. I'm actually not so much worried about bandwidth as I am about my router sucking.

@yellowantphil Sure. Also, /votes and /votes?t=c serve json data. Do the t=c once at the start to get candidate info; the values in /votes will always be the same order as that initial info list (sorted by user id, not votes).
The r field in both is the current app version number, fyi.
@Shog9 are some stats going to be compiled regarding this SO election vs last... it feels like there's either more people able to vote or interested in voting this time around... My gut feeling is there's something about having SO have its own Meta, but also guessing more active users, or possibly more interested users (is that down to having it on its own site now etc...)...

eg: how many people are eligible to vote this time and such? Or does that only get computed at the end of the errr... "finale"?7
@yellowantphil Haha. I would seriously consider that only if I could access non-public data for the activity stats.
Speaking of which I generated time-of-day plots yesterday but haven't shared them yet. It's fascinating. Just line graphs, total events by day of week in past year right now. Working on punchcard style.
Yeah some of them are super messy, some are nice. I did smooth the graph slightly, and used an output renderer that drew curves instead of straight lines.
@yellowantphil Yeah, well that's related to the internal struggle I'm having right now. I could give every graph the same vertical scale so you can compare relative activity between candidates, or I could use different scales, to focus just on that particular user's activity patterns. I'm leaning towards the latter, since the purpose is activity over day. Comparisons between users are already available in the other plots.
I am working on generating a dataset of all the current mods combined, that's the one I might post for mods. To give an indication of where the gaps are currently, which is really the more relevant point.

@durron597 I tried log scale for the activity plots; it made a big mess. They're on the github page. I suspect they'd also even out the daily activity profile a bit too much and take away from the clarity, but I could try it. If I switch to punchcards it won't matter anyways. E.g. raw.githubusercontent.com/guanqun/git-punchcard-plot/master/…; then my only goal would be to tweak the scales so that activity patterns were as clear as possible.

@kurenn The nomination phase ended a couple days ago, but keep an eye out for the next election (they're roughly yearly but it varies). Stay active and participate in the mean time.
