I'm pretty vague on networking, but from what I understand you can't generally determine whether a client is actually there unless you try to open a connection to it

do nslookup, check the iptables, poll the router for tables, etc etc

A wifi hotspot software.... okey I can tell you the scenario....say you are connected with my laptop now you are working fine. you need to go out of my wifi range after the when you come back you will see that it can't connect because connectify me is not disconnecting my device from the list...so i need to restart my software which isi preety boaring

your clients broadcast their presence all the time
