I only use var when it is otherwise obvious what the type is. var foo = DateTime.Now, obviously a datetime

I just like it because it lets me know where my casing is wrong. Our code reviewers are the casing Nazis. They are however pretty lenient on.. Y'know... Making sure code compiles.. Or the proper usings are required.... They've been known to ignore the red squiggly lines... But GOD DAMNIT YOUR CASEING HAD BETTER BE SPOT THE FUCK ON!

I changed the code to console.log(JSON.stringify(editor)) and the object is very different in the debugger.
