@M007 The real problem is that you are treating dataToEncrypt as if it was an NSData object. When it actually is an NSString object - which is what the error is telling you - that a string cannot respond to the appendData method.

@link you should return autoreleased objects from methods, which should take care of that warning.

Also - be careful with method names - using get as a prefix usually means that results are returned by reference in the parameters.

For example - NSColor's getComponents method, it doesn't return the result, it just puts it into the parameter.
