"Is there a better way" is a poor basis for a question anyway, and unfortunately for OP the direct answer is "not really, any current solution would be unstable" so cdhowie is kinda right in that respect. Though I would personally close as opinion-based under that line of thinking. I do like that you provided stackoverflow.com/questions/77734070 as a link since it at least provides a different way to do a similar concept and may be "better" though I didn't look too closely.
