@Shepmaster Honestly I don't really care about this precise result. I already know that Rust is the best language, by far, among the ones several people heard about.

I would be more interested in the same result among employers.

Hu. Neovim is the most wanted editor. It's my most wanted but it's weird it is so popular. I know I don't tell youngster to lose time learning it.

I thought SublimeText was more loved.

@Shepmaster It's the best for me because I know it. It doesn't mean the investment was reasonable if you assume better editors will appear.

In the recent years, the editor I told my young colleagues to learn was vscode (they must use idea too, because java).

Jokes aside, I believe community-support, convenience, and UI/UX wise it is indeed the best editor out there. But sadly it is a freaking memory and processor hog.

@DenysSéguret Unfortunately I'm not surprised.. not because of you, but because most free / libre things are not that popular -- people value their comfort above everything for the last 2-3 decades (at least).

Not sure why they do that, you could ask the package-maintainers

(IIRC they are the "official" guys behind the projects.)

I haven't checked it, but there's also the vscodium-bin package -- is that using a separate version as well?

my point is, the official code package is MIT-licensed (unlike, say, the visual-studio-code-bin package, which is Microsoft's non-MIT build)

so there are probably not many differences between vscodium and Arch Linux's code

Oh, I see your point. Well, we have to dig deeper then, it feels rather strange to have a package under the same name but with a different license and slightly modified than the original / official one..

Moreover, I know for a fact, that the vscode in the official repo uses the MS maintained plugin "store"

(Which has tracking and telemetry)

While the guys behind the vscodium also created a separate "store", which supposed to be truly libre

Anyway, I don't have time to dig deeper into this today or, in fact in the next few days, but I will later on, unless you find out something in the meantime.
