@EnnMichael Same, I even went to one of those early ReasonML events, where the founders were talking about it. That was at least 4 years ago. At that time it felt half-baked to me as well. But, you know, after I worked with TS very intensely again for the last week or so, I just couldn't help myself and wishing for another language to work with.

And there are plenty of alternatives of couse, Dart, Elm, PureScript, Haxe, etc. but somehow none of these cut the mustard for me. I mean, Haxe feels the closest, albeit I haven't invested too much time into it, but there's virtually no user around that project. At least with TS one has the majority of the frontend developers, which is something one has to keep in mind when it comes to hireability and it is not only one's pet project.

Where are people usually discovering new softwares ?

I'm asking because I almost never find why there's suddenly a rain of stars on my projects. But I only know reddit, lobsters, twitter and HN, and obviously I'm missing a major place but I don't know which one and neither Google. I guess I'm missing some other great softwares too

Viral constraints on type parameters are not appealing.

It's an impossible question in the abstract which is part of the problem (i.e., you need to know what the type and trait are to decide whether a bound is actually warranted)

I'm a bit concerned that if/when implied_bounds is implemented, people will start to put bounds on structs just to save typing

A diff between my Cargo.lock and theirs doesn't show anything unusual either.
