you can do this:

Fragment fragment = getFragmentManager().findFragmentById(R.id.container_layout_id);
if (fragment instanceof YourFragment) {
String text = ((YourFragment) fragment).getTextView().getText();
}

you can have a getTextView() method in your fragment which returns the desired text view
