I place custom edit summaries because they're essential to getting reviewers to approve them quickly. The faster it gets approved, the less chance it gets rejected, from my perspective.

I thought the edit summary wasn't auto-filled for users under 2K?

It will, but it's either "improved grammar" or "improves formatting".
