What's the proper thing to do when someone writes a code-dump answer writing the OP's entire assignment for them? Just downvote and move on, or should more be done too? Can they be 20k deleted?

@EJoshuaS-StandwithUkraine Sounds like it'd be appropriate to close the question if it doesn't appear to be reasonably scoped for a reasonable-sized answer to be possible. If it has no chance of being of any use to anyone in the future, you can then vote to delete the question after a couple days - leaving the existing answer alone.

They are very easy to find using the appropriate search terms

@SunderamDubey You can try is:q closed:yes score:..-1 views:..1000 sanswer:1.. created:..10y and you'd get a lot of things that probably need deleting. Play around with the parameters and/or introduce more.

@blackgreen as I said the topic is well-covered on the canon. The user is active and knows what he is suppose to do. If he wants to add some new value to SO, he should post that unique insight on the canon. The canon already has 15 comprehensive answers.

Is this comment below a question that's just a reiteration of their deleted answer spam? How can I make modal asking allow to use location in react native? I couldn't find answer, I saw only expo versions but not react native I feel it's kind of suspicious that they reproduced the link in a comment after the answer got down voted and deleted.

@tripleee definitely not opinion based as they want there code to tell them which option is best. From what I can tell the code always just outputs the first option in their list of options.

I've occasionally wanted to move a short-ish answer to comments and I've ended up converting to comment, undeleting, converting to comment again but using the second half of the answer text. :P

Yeah, not surprising, honestly since comments require inline links.

Convert to comment, undelete, edit comment to a logical ending point, edit answer to chop off the part that I left in the comment, convert to comment again, repeat as necessary, then edit from the previous revision to remove the edit during the grace period.

For future reference, it'd be better to point something like that out via moderator flag on the post, rather than in chat, where it can be easily missed. The volume of mod flags on MSO is quite low, so you don't have to worry that we'll miss seeing it before the automatic expiration.

@RyanM I usually edit the comment, not the answer. That way, there's minimal trace in the public history. That does require converting links to inline manually, but that's not all that difficult.

Yeah I was on the fence about it; it's just asking about use of a program, but potentially parsing the human readable output for a value could be considered programming.

The answers may serve to retroactively make it on-topic; the question itself is definitely Super User material.

I don't dispute that it could have equally been asked on Super User, but that alone doesn't make it off-topic for SO.

And I'm not arguing that it's the answers that make it programming because they're writing code. Rather, I'm saying this falls into the category of software tools commonly/primarily used by programmers, specifically those who are writing code that runs on GPUs. A non-programmer user would not likely care about this information.

I'll grant you "commonly" but don't agree with "primarily."

And a developer would not need to ask what users on a system are running certain software.

It's a sysadmin task; development doesn't typically involve unknown users running your software.
