Hello, I already asked this in the meta room but I believe this room might be more appropriate.
I have closed [this question](https://stackoverflow.com/questions/74625434/get-top-3-max-values), in the meantime a gold-badge owner posted and now wants to reopen on the ground that the duplicates are not exactly the same as their answer (I find the reason not sufficient as it's a minor and unrelated change). Do you think that I closed improperly? Is the reason to reopen valid?

@mozway I'd not reopen one. It's a very common question and a question asking to find the top 3 isn't (conceptually) any different from finding the top 5 or top n.

@JeanneDark sure I could, but I like truth telling. I believe it is good to show future readers that the page is skating the edge of being ontopic. I'd support Typo closure if I didn't think it was a repeatable mistake that other devs might encounter.

The user has several answers that seem to just be scattered. To me it seems they just managed to meet somebody scattering upvotes. The "new contributor" label also probably helped.

Yeah. Probably someone based in a language that does allow such assignments. Terrible answer, though, in so many ways: The OP's original reset function should actually work; it probably just isn't ever getting called.

By chance I've already seen another of the user's answers on a JS question. They also answered a C# question. Overall, the binding thing behind the answers seems that it's rather basic answers to basic questions.

The C answer does say they aren't proficient in C. The upvote also came 10 minutes after posting the answer. Of the other answers, one is upvoted (and at least seems correct), another is accepted (but it's the only visible answer on a closed question).

@AdrianMole They seemingly just used (or rather are inspired by) code from the question (char space[3][3] = { {'1','2','3'}, {'4','5','6'}, {'7','8','9'} };).

They seem to be more used to daft languages, like J/S and C#, where (I think) you can assign arrays like that.

When OP just throws all their code here and I can't even be bothered to go through all of it for what seems like a small error, I vote for no MCVE. I really don't feel like going through 100 lines of code (and some times way more) when it's something like a function not being called or being called but with the wrong argument. If OP didn't even attempt to narrow down the problem, then why should I bother?

@VLAZ Yeah. I saw it in FQ review and was considering giving it either a downvote or a close vote. But I saw that it had already been answered (albeit badly) and - feeling generous - decided to clean it up a bit and post a comment as "Other action".

... somebody may want to look into it and figure out what the issue is. So, it is answerable.

@AdrianMole IMO, without being minima, it's rather useless. When the problem is that it's calling foo(42) instead of foo(4 + 2) (for example) and you need to eliminate literal hundreds of lines of code to get there, it's not even useful to users who land on the question in the future. They still need to do the same to match if their problem is the same as the question's.

And it can be really hard to track down if it is or isn't.

@GeneralGrievance For less obvious, you may need a modflag. Same with less obvious spam. Basically, if it's not almost immediately apparent by looking at the post and/or the profile, then might be best to use a custom flag with an explanation.

I'm not a fan of the new way notifications clear. You have to click on the notification to actually clear it or hit clear all.

Clicking on any part of the entry will mark it as read, although it will also navigate to the post/comment

At 14px by 14px, misclicking is easy. E.g., if you have problem with your hand. Also, which is more of my problem - optical mouse occasionally trembles a bit because there is a small hair or something on the optical sensor.

I just had to refresh the browser to get the notification to show up. I had a red 1, but open notification and nothing unread. refreshed and then the message appeared. They are really pushing some quality features/updates out ;)

@NathanOliver Some times (and I can't figure out when, exactly) you get new notifications and you have to click the "Refresh" button in the inbox to show them.

Seems to happen for example 1. You get one notification 2. you open the toolbar. 3. You close the toolbar. 4. You get, say, two new notifications. 5. You open the toolbar.

You now have one unread message from the first time you opened, then two you have to click the Refresh for. It says "Refresh (2)", I think.

I'm not fully clear on what the trigger is to get new notifications but they don't show in the toolbar.

It involves staying on the page. But some times seems to happen even if I mark the notifications as read and then get new ones.

It might also be related to the constant DDoSing or whatever the heck is causing so random slowdowns every dang day.

The menu itself could list the number of unread comments when you open it(really it should default to "unread" comments instead of "all" comments; I don't know why they did it the other way)

RO question - I've found a high-rep user who seems to be in the habit of rolling back good edits. Is it OK to note that in this room, to encourage a contributor here to rollback to their edit and/or flag to mod as they wish? (I can message them instead, but notes pertaining to post quality IMO would be in tune with the general aims of this room - just conscious of the worries of "focussing on the user").
