Strictly speaking, the rule is that you shouldn't ping moderators for things that can be handled with a flag. You probably shouldn't ping anyone for programming assistance that they haven't already agreed to provide, especially not in here.

@Arcanis-TheOmnipotent You appear to have misread my message. I am suggesting that the fact that whether Mayken is a moderator or not is irrelevant; pinging any users in chat to ask for programming assistance is generally not appropriate, unless they've already agreed to help you.
@HovercraftFullOfEels It wasn't a problem at all. I can definitely see that the statement could be interpreted as very inappropriate. In that case, it appeared beneficial to extend the benefit of doubt that there wasn't an intent to be offensive. It's all good. Your response was reasonable.
