But, even taking the above-linked Meta posts into consideration, is the post I linked to start this conversation even a "partial answer"? The other commentator seems to think it's helpful (and, from my limited encounters with that user, I feel he's a good contributor/reviewer).

we already are, methinks, too late. On a more related note, I always thought of partial answers as posts that address, well, a part of the problem and thus are valuable contributions, just scoped. The answer in question looks like it would be better off as a question closed as a dupe of the original (or vice versa) once a solution is found. And temporarily linked via "related: <link here>" in comments

MSO seems to be more inclined to treat such answers the same (i.e. they are better off as questions linked together): Is a partial answer OK?

@Vickel I don't disagree - as I mentioned, I too do not think this particular case is a partial answer. It does not answer anything, it is just a better formulated and better-researched question that can be used as a duplicate target once answered. Thus I, too, think that the phrasing in help center is actively misleading and is too forum-like as well, far from the spirit of Q&A

[I'm not making a statement as to if it's good or bad. I'm just giving information as to when it first existed.]

@Makyen thanks! I did not check for how long it existed, just agree with the position that it is misleading and is very "forum-ish" as it is basically a loophole for keeping question replies and bypasses the duplicate closure mechanism where one would be appropriate, which is... odd

Is this nonsense question to be considered rude/abusive? It contains nonsense text and a large amount of unexplained code, without any evidence of containing a true question.

It would be merely cd-worthy without the filler, so I'd opt to assume the intent was to smuggle in code using the filler, not vice versa

I wouldn't flag it as NAA. Guess that would get declined. I don't know if "You can use an Elastic Load Balancer" is a good answer to the question but it makes it not a link-only answer (or at least it doesn't look like one).

Any javascript developers here? Does it make any difference to put "js" compared to "javascript" as the language when making a codeblock?

I believe the highlighting allows js as an alias, but check the meta post
