@rene I was able to retract a VLQ flag on Islam just now ... no shortage of actual VLQ posts there IMHO if you are looking to experiment

(I know next to nothing about the site, but they get a steady stream of posts which are just the same old FAQs over and over)

When will the chat font be updated? I want my chat to be consistent with my posts.

At least good ol Chat.SO still has the boring old fonts we love, and no dark theme to muck up the coloring.

Why can't we have Comic Sans for chat?

That would require someone at the company to actually know the chat stack. AFAIK, they don't have anyone who was there when chat was created

I think I've fixed it for myself in my userstyle

body:not(#chat-body) *:not(textarea) { font-family: Arial, sans-serif !important; } should revert everything back to normal in your favorite user styles/scripts add-on/extension.

(on domains stackoverflow.com, stackexchange.com). Adjust as necessary for diff domains

@TylerH That wouldn't be all that unreasonable, if they actually used the variables consistently. As it is, there are ~20 different places where they don't use the variables, which is more than the number of places where they use the variables.

@Makyen I didn't want to count, on account of them having like 100+ variables listed in both stacks and other css files

@TylerH Just FYI: on 2021-04-16 (the most recent date I saved the CSS prior to the change), this font-family stack used to be Arial, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, sans-serif !important. The other font-family stack was Consolas, Menlo, Monaco, Lucida Console, Liberation Mono, DejaVu Sans Mono, Bitstream Vera Sans Mono, Courier New, monospace, sans-serif.

@Makyen I worked off of a tab I had open from before the change which just showed Verdana, Arial, sans-serif

but I know that's also gonna be specific to my OS

for example Mac users will have Helvetica but Windows users usually won't

I haven't gone over the changes in detail, but the stacks I listed are the primary ones which SE was using in the CSS I downloaded (which, as you've mentioned, might be different based on the user agent presented in the request). In the "stacks" CSS, they were also using Georgia, Times New Roman, Times, serif.

In stacks.css, they changed:

There weren't any selector changes in primary.css, just the values of the font-family property. There weren't a lot of other CSS changes. The main other changes were that their sprite sheets changed, so all the locations they reference changed. There were some additional changes, but none that I'm quickly seeing which should affect the fonts, other than the font-family ones throughout where they made similar changes to the stacks.

Looking at this post, the last edit added requirements to the question, rendering the only answer invalid. Would a rollback be justified?

@Turing85 yes, edits that invalidate existing answers are not allowed

however, it's early, and we could give the answerer time to edit their own answer/delete it if they choose

rather than rolling back immediately

That said, based on what I've seen, I wouldn't bother waiting very long to roll back...

@TylerH Could you please double-check? I think I might be mistaken. Reading the 1st revision very carefully, it was stated that OP wants to map "every word"*, not only the three covered in the answer.

Sorry, I got distracted @Turing85. I would not bother with that particular one. It's arguable that the answerer made assumptions about the contents as well... you could definitely argue the given strings in the questions are clearly placeholders

so the edit wouldn't necessarily invalidate the answer when it was the answer that made the assumption

anyway the author already has +2 on the answer. I'd say let them decide if they take issue w/ OP's edit
